Laboratory for Environmental Hydro-Geo-Physics
It serves to devise, design and apply resolutive strategies for the prevention, monitoring and mitigation of environmental risk. It supports activities such as: the estimation of the hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive parameters of the aquifers, the modeling of flow and the transport of reactive substances in saturated and unsaturated media, the reclamation of contaminated sites, the validation of forecasting models, the verification of the surface and underground water balance, the development of innovative solutions for various types of environmental problems.
Non-invasive investigation services are provided that effectively contribute to: observation, study and analysis of possible areas subject to pollutant diffusion; archaeological research; soil surveys; monitoring of landfill areas; ground control, groundwater contamination studies by salt water; geometric and hydrogeological characterization of landslide bodies in order to accurately plan interventions to be carried out on the area affected by the phenomenon, for its stabilization and safety. Furthermore, thanks to the instruments the laboratory is equipped with, the depth and geometry of buried objects can be defined, whether they are of geological (stratification, cavity, etc.) engineering (pillars, tunnels, ducts, cable ducts, underground tanks, etc.), or archaeological type (excavations, columns, walls and buried finds, etc.).
